THE ROLE OF DIFFUSION WEIGHTED IMAGING IN DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN BENIGN AND MALIGNANT OVARIAN LESIONS

چکیده

• Ovarian carcinomas represent 6th most common cancer, the second gynecologic cancer and 4th leading cause of death in women. With no viable screening estimates accessible, 70% ovarian malignancies are diagnosed at a late stage. Separation benign lesions from malignant ones is foremost significance to direct correct clinical management. Imaging modalities, particularly ultrasonography (US), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) imaging have become first line for diagnosis. • US remains study choice initial evaluation suspected adnexal masses because it relatively inexpensive, noninvasive, widely available. Transabdominal US, endovaginal or both should be performed masses. MR useful modality differentiating tumors, specific diagnosis can made certain pathologic entities. Morphologic appearance, signal intensity characteristics, DWI adequate use intravenous contrast material provide information arriving

Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Breast Lesions Using ADC on Diffusion-Weighted Imaging at 3.0 T

Aim: To investigate the diagnostic efficiency of apparent diffusion coefficient value (ADC) in differentiating benign from malignant breast lesions at 3.0 T diffusion-weighted imaging with different pair of b value. Methods: Total 110 patients with 107 lesions (44 benign and 63 malignant) were selected for our study with five different b-values 0, 400, 800, 1200 and 1600 s/mm2. ADC values were ...

Differentiation of benign and malignant breast lesions by apparent diffusion coefficient value in mass and non-mass lesions

Background: Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is one of methods in evaluation of breast lesions. We aimed to investigate the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values in breast tumors and their accuracy in differentiating benign versus malignant lesions. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 72 patients with 88 breast lesions were investigated by 1.5-T breast MRI from 2015 to 2017 in Athari...

Dynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

The use of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging in the differentiation between benign and malignant breast lesions*

OBJECTIVE: To study the utility of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging in the differentiation between benign and malignant breast lesions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty-five women (mean age, 46.1 years) with 52 focal breast lesions underwent diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging. The calculation of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) was based on the ADC map reflecting five b ...
